NZ Post - Post Code Changes
NZ Post is changing
all of the 4 digit post
codes currently in use. These changes will be announced to the general
public in June. The old Post Codes will be phased out over the next two
years and by June 2008, only the new post codes can be used. This will
affect any companies sending out bulk mail.

Unsolicited Electronics Message Bill
This Bill should be
passed into Law by the end of this year. It is
currently at submissions stage and we have included a link through to
the
Marketing Associations submissions that Martins were involved
in.
This Bill will effect email messages as well as SMS (Txting).
It is designed to bring us into line with our trading partners
particularly Australia. Although it is unlikely to slow down the deluge
of
emails originating from overseas, it will serve to regulate the NZ
market.
Currently the eMarketing Networks (part of the Marketing Association) 6
Guiding Principles for eMail Marketing is the country's de-facto
regulator.
Unaddressed Mail Code of Practice
In an effect to deflect
Local
Governments from creating Bylaws to control unaddressed mail that comes
into peoples letterboxes, the Marketing Association has created a Code
of
Practice for the industry. A complaints hotline has also been
established
for members of the public to use.
It has been suggested that personalised, addressed mail will
increase as a result of the current issues around unaddressed mail.
